Ive been low impact camping in the dead of winter. Blankets of snow create a virtual world for sound: a describable beautiful emptiness…the earth moaning. Snapping branches and precipitation dropping from trees replace the cadence of summer’s crickets. Left alone with the purified landscape of an ice covered terrain, a simple set of supplies to survive - I dig into the snow and build a shelter. I light a fire to keep me warm while Im not moving. I become so solemn, absorbed by the noticeable lack of society, I’m able to sit for a brief moment in my life… and meet with God.
